    Survey Party Chief I (Huntsville, AL)

    Description

    • 5-10 + years survey experience. 5 + years survey party chief experience. ALTA, topographic surveys, construction surveys - required experience. 3D laser scanning experience is a plus.
    • Supervise Survey Crew, keep field notes, communicate with office staff, train subordinates, operate 3D laser scanner, and operate total station, data collector, GPS (fast static, RTK and VRS), auto level, and download data into computers each night.
    • A valid current driver’s license
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, walk for extended periods, work in all weather conditions, willing to work evenings/weekends when required, willing to travel for overnight and extended stay projects as required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • This position will be working in the Huntsville, AL area. Valid Driver's License, good work ethic, great pay and benefits, per diem for travel, reliability, able to lift up to 50 pounds, able to work more than 40 hours a week as necessary.

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or GED is required. 
    • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.

    EMPLOYMENT POSITION:  PROJECT LAND SURVEYOR

    COMPANY: HALLIBURTON SURVEYING & MAPPING, LLC

    LOCATION: HUNTSVILLE, AL

    JOB DESCRIPTION: Halliburton Surveying & Mapping is seeking qualified candidates who are capable of managing all aspects of surveying projects, including, but not limited to, commercial, industrial, federal, automotive and residential sectors. The majority of the work will be performed in an office setting, but will require periodic field work. Candidates should be proficient with AutoCAD, robotic total station, global position systems and data collection systems. Proficiencies with other technologies such as laser scanning, drones and geographic information systems is recommended, but not required.

    Candidates will be expected meet or exceed a high standard of care in completing multiple types of large to medium sized surveying projects including, boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, construction layout, as-built surveys and more.

    EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time

    REQUIREMENTS: Valid driver’s license along with dependable transportation, legal US citizenship, non-felon, limited background investigation and drug screening.

    Schoel Engineering, a full-service engineering, land surveying and land planning firm providing design services across the Southeast, currently has an opening for a qualified Senior Survey Draftsman in our Huntsville, Alabama office.     

    JOB DESCRIPTION
    The Senior Survey Draftsman’s position is a highly valued technical position requiring the following skills:
    •    Researches information for surveys, as-builts, final plats and specialty surveys
    •    Knowledge of probate office and acquisition of deeds and record maps
    •    Prepares complex level survey plats from survey field notes with minimal supervision
    •    Runs survey closures and computes areas
    •    Revises plats according to red line comments by supervisors
    •    Reviews title commitments and plots title exceptions
    •    Assembles information for survey crews
    •    Is proactive in bringing issues to the supervisor’s attention
    •    Coordinates and leads project related meetings internally and with clients, contractors, review authorities, etc. when needed or asked by the Project Manager
    •    Attends project related meetings when asked
    •    Strives to meet project schedule while maintaining scope, budget and technical excellence
    •    Takes initiative to move a project forward when the Project Manager in unavailable
    •    Takes initiative to develop individual skills and the skills of others
    •    Ability to communication well with staff and clients

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION
    •    2-year degree preferred
    •    Minimum 6 years’ experience or relevant training in land survey drafting
    •    Experience and knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D strongly preferred
    •    Knowledge of multiple types of surveying projects including boundary & topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, single family residential subdivisions, as-builts, and subdivision platting.
